Reel to Real

Overview

Co-funded by Scottish Screen, this Moving Image Education initiative has been developed specifically for Careers Scotland’s Get Ready for Work, Training Provider Network. Designed as a capacity and professional skills building programme for trainers, this programme of learning and teaching practices will create awareness and understanding of practical application of MIE principles within informal training environments which engage young people who may not be in education, employment or training.

Process

Linking closely with the four capacities highlighted in A Curriculum for Excellence and embedding the 3C’s of media literacy, Reel to Real will run over a six month period, comprising of two twelve week programmes for up to twenty trainers.

Programme content is presented in a three-phased approach; Learn, a five week phase designed to develop awareness and understanding of key MIE principles, Teach, over a four week period will encourage exploration of the practical application of learning and finally Embed will offer a three week phase of mentor support for MIE delivery in a live training context.
