Digital Media - Jobs for the Boys?

Jemima Gibbons, iKnowHow
21 June 2007, 10am-12.30pm, Cost: Free

Since 2005, Jemima has run Women in Film and Television’s Technical Change mentoring scheme, backed by ESF EQUAL and UIP, which provides mentors for women in technical areas.

This seminar, based around the findings/conclusions from Technical Change, proposed what might be holding women back in technical areas and asked how we can encourage more women and girls to pursue leading roles in digital technology. The two-year programme came to an end in June 07 so now is the ideal time to explore and disseminate Jemima's findings.

60 Second Interview

What is the next big disruptive technology in your opinon and why?

Jemima Gibbons
The main thing about big, disruptive technologies is that you don't necessarily see them coming. Having said that, both social media and IPTV are likely to have a profound influence on the way we consume film and video over the next decade.

Which single technological innovation will most effectively develop mobile learning and why?

Jemima Gibbons
If I knew that, I'd be taking my business plan to Dragon's Den.
